Job Purpose:

To assist the Head of Internal Audit in developing and executing ERA’s audit plan and take an active role in the day to day execution of internal audits.

Contribute to the Internal Audit function by identifying relevant risks associated with ERA’s objectives and evaluating the controls in place to mitigate those risks in order to improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Participate in the design of risk based internal audit plans for the Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA)
  2. Perform periodic audits and risk assessments of ERA operations in conformity with the Internal Audit work plan
  3. Appraise the adequacy of internal control systems
  4. Record internal audit process from notification of auditees at commencement to closure of audits
  5. Keep track of implementation of internal and external audit findings and recommendations
  6. Analyze data and processes to support improvement insights on the operations of ERA
  7. Ensure that a compliance and risk culture is embedded within the organization by means of appropriate training and awareness initiatives
  8. Participate in consulting and advisory assignments undertaken by the internal audit function
  9. Any other duties as may be reasonably assigned.

Qualifications, Experience and Age Limit:

  1. An Honours degree in Commerce, Accounting, Engineering, Economics or Business Administration. However, a full member of ICPAU, ACCA or an equivalent professional accountancy organization who has an honours degree in any other discipline may also apply.
  2. The applicant should be a registered member of Institute of Internal Auditors. Applicants who have completed level 1 of the CIA certification of the Institute of Internal Auditors will have a distinct advantage.
  3. Should have three (3) years relevant experience in Auditing
  4. Should be 25 years and not more than 35 years of age.

  4. Innovative and proactive in addressing audit challenges
  5. Should have ability to meet deadlines
  6. Should have good report writing skills
  7. Should have training and capacity building skills
  8. Should be able to pay attention to detail.
