This Department is headed by the Director Technical Regulation - Eng Norbert Semitala who works with other technical officers namely;

The tasks for the Technical Regulation Department include but are not limited to;

Support to the development and implementation of policies and strategies for the regulation of electricity generation, transmission and distribution.
Initiate, develop and maintain policies, strategies and standards for quality of supply.
Identify, formulate and implement criteria for licenses for electricity producers, transmitter's distributors and retailers.
Support with the assessment of licensing criteria and license application reviews.
Coordinate performance monitoring, benchmarking and license withdraw recommendations to the Authority.
Develop supply side management (DMS) data and performance benchmarks on production efficiency, customer and environment impact and capital cost technologies.
Supervise evaluation of new projects application including system simulation
Technical support to the ERA dispute resolution processes.
