Why don’t we utilize the pre-paid metering system in order to curb on electricity losses in the sub sector?

ANS:

Indeed the pre-paid metering system is currently being studied by the current service provider – Umeme Ltd with the view of establishing it first on a pilot basis in some areas for consumers.

The system has worked well in Tanzania, Sudan, and South Africa and these are some of the countries that Uganda is are under-studying with the view of sharing experiences and learning from
