What is the composition of Electricity Consumer Committees (ECCs)?

The Composition of members to the ECCs includes the following:- 

  1. A Chairperson (chosen from the members themselves).

  2. Four representatives for the domestic consumers (in the relevant division).

  3. A representative from the large industry or industry representative organizations e.g. Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA) in the ECC / relevant division area.

  4. A representative from the small industry or industry representative organizations e.g. Uganda Small Scale Industries (USSI) in the ECC / relevant division area.

  5. A Uganda National Chamber of Commerce (UNCCI) representative from the relevant division.

  6. A representative from an active NGO in the area.

  7. A representative from the Private Sector Foundation of Uganda in the relevant division area.

  8. A representative from the Local Government Structure in the relevant division area.

ERA appoints these individuals either through direct approach / recommendations from representative organizations and, in the case of the domestic consumer representative positions, through a public advertisement calling for expressions of interest.
