The Electricity Act provides that the Authority shall be composed of distinguished personalities with proven experience and reputation in the fields of engineering, law, administration or management, finance or economics, the energy industry, or environmental matters. The Authority comprises of five members, who are responsible for guiding the implementation of the functions of ERA as stipulated in the Electricity Act, 1999. The CEO and Secretary are Ex-officio members of the Authority The Authority members are appointed by the Minister responsible for energy on approval of cabinet for a period of five years with a possibility for one renewal. |

Although primarily qualified with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree that was heavily focused on financial management from the University of Nairobi in 1972, Mr. Apire has worked in diversity of departments in Bank of Uganda with a variety of functions and rural development issues.Thus he has been vastly exposed both professionally and practically to many of the issues dealing with central and commercial banking, development financing, human resources and foreign exchange management.Click for Detailed CV |

Mrs. Nsereko Fatmah has over 20 years experience in general management and institutional development of which 5 are in utilities management and regulatory institutional management at chairperson and general management level. She has also served on various boards in large organizations as a board member. Her experience at the Uganda Commercial Bank where she served as a board member for 3 years exposed her to the Ugandan business environment in relationship with banking and business promotion.
